Potato Bhonda Recipe
Ingredients
1. Potatoes (6)
2. rice flour (1/4c)
3. channa flour or besan (1c)
4. urad dal (1tsp)
5. channa dal (1/2tsp)
6. grated ginger (a small piece)
7. green chillies (6)
8. curry leaves (a few)
9. cilantro (a small bunch)
10. washed and finely chopped lemon (1)
11. mustard seeds (1/2tsp)
12. turmeric powder (1/4tsp)
13. salt (1tsp)
14. cooking oil for frying
Method of preparation:-
1. Take potatoes, wash them and boil them with the turmeric powder and the salt in it. Peel the skin of the boiled potatoes and mash them . Keep them aside.
2. Take a pan, place it over heat. Heat the oil in it and then fry mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal, cilantro, curry leaves, green chillies and ginger in the oil. Now add the mashed potatoes and then mix them well. Add the fresh lemon juice.
3. Take off the pan from the heat and keep it to cool. When the potatoes mixture gets cool then make small balls of this mixture and keep them aside.
4. Take a bowl, mix the channa flour or besan and rice flour with salt in it. Make the batter of this with little water. Take a kadai, place it over heat. Heat the oil in it for frying. Coat the balls of potatoes in the batter and deep fry them in the hot oil.
5. Fry them until they gets light brown. Drain the potaoes bhonda from the oil and serve them hot with chutney.
